We're now rounding the corner into my most dreaded time of year, summer time. That probably sounds strange so allow me to clarify. The thought of the season of summer, in my opinion, is more appealing than its reality. At the moment, I cannot think of anything more brutal than a hot New York summer. Let's just say I prefer not to have my skin melt off by just sitting in a chair. So basically the heat is a total turnoff.
However, one thing I absolutely love about the summer is music. Now, obviously I listen to music all year round, almost everyday, but there is something about a feel good song on a bright summer day that I just love. Especially driving down the highway with no traffic. Well, maybe some traffic. This IS New York. My favorite genre happens to be Country and it is the total essence of the season for me.
I've compiled a playlist on Spotify of my 2014 country songs (and non-country songs) of the summer which I've titled, "Beat this Summer 2014". It's a mix of various tracks both currently on the charts and some not so recent. It will be on repeat through September no doubt. Here's a few of the songs. No particular order in terms of favorites:
*highlighted in red are just a few of my number ones.*
One that is actually not listed on this playlist but should be (my apologies) is "Forever" by my favorite, FAVORITE (female) band HAIM. If you have not heard of them by now, I'm not sure what you have been doing because they are my love.

"Forever" totally belongs on the summer playlist. It's so...good. Just a brief history on my love for the Haim sisters. One Saturday night I "discovered" them on Saturday Night Live and I must not tell a lie, I was absolutely annoyed by their performance of "The Wire" and was upset that the song became jammed inside of my brain by the end of the night. A few days later, I somehow came around to watching the music video and that was it. I was actually kind of disappointed in myself for being so disgusted (I use this word loosely) with the performance. One word to describe my relationship with Haim: obsessed. Not crazy or creepy or anything obviously. Danielle Haim is what I'd like to say is, in the words of Beyonce, "flawless". No, really.
here's "Forever".
